IRC Questions

Q: what day is the update my dear friend from childhood mister heisenborg

Heisenborg: I can't set a date in stone exactly, but we're planning to release this around the middle of next week during a maintenance. :)

Q: Will there be anything in the update to encourage usage of real shields, as opposed to guard cylinders? Right now guard cylinders are pretty much all around better.

Heisenborg: Actually yes. So Defense has been updated so that if you have a Shield equipped and you're using the skill, you can still run while the skill is active. If you don't have a shield, you'll walk with Defense active.

Q: What giant skills will be tweaked in this update?

Heisenborg: Well there are plenty of general combat skills getting tweaked, but Stomp and Giant Full Swing are getting a touch up. For Stomp, this AOE stun skill now additionally causes AOE damage to all enemies surrounding the user (not just those in front) at all skill ranks.

Q: what changes to smash should we expect if any?

Heisenborg: Smash is getting a really cool update to make it much better. Whenever you use Smash and you have a close combat type weapon equipped, you have the potential to inflict extra damage conditions on the enemy. For example, if you're using a two handed sword and Smash an enemy, there's a chance you'll deal bleeding damage over time. Blunt Weapons have a chance to trigger a Prevent Magic and Alchemy effect. Axe weapons triggered a Reduce Defense and Protection effect, which increases in duration and effect level as the skill is trained to higher ranks. Those are some examples.

Q: Will there be any Dungeon Revamps in the upcoming update?

Heisenborg: Great question - unfortunately we aren't planning any dungeon changes for this particular update. HOWEVER, we do have some cool dungeon system updates planned for down-the-line. The only changes in this update will be that there are new items which can be earned from dungeons in Uladh. Things like enchants and crafting materials for new weapons.

Q: When are we expected to get the melee, magic and ranged update; respectively?

Heisenborg: Close Combat is coming very soon, Magic and Archery to follow.

Q: Hey! I heard that there will be new two-handed weapons like hammers and axes for humans. Does that mean that humans will be able to use Giant's two-handed weapons? =o

Heisenborg: I can't verify that Humans will be able to use ALL Giant weapons, but yes there are some cool new two-handed weapons like giant hammers and axes which Humans can now use.

Q: Are server merges going to be happening in NA anytime soon?

Heisenborg: Well here's an off topic question a lot of guys have been asking... Server merges are a big deal, it's something we've sat down and talked about. This requires merging databases and there are lots of hurdles and things to work around. We know there are some low server populations, and it's being considered, but not anytime too soon.

Q: Any cool updates with life skills?

Heisenborg: Not in this update, unfortunately. HOWEVER, the Mabinogi Renovation project is a big deal and ongoing. Combat, Magic, and Archery are on the way, and there's some other really cool stuff dealing with life skills (such as commerce and part-time jobs) still being developed by the team in Korea. It's exciting stuff.

Q: Will there be any events tied in with the renovation updates?

Heisenborg: Yes, we've got a few events coming up as well. Some of these are fan favorites like the Treasure Box event. That one matches really well with the combat renovation since its a lot of killing and looting and such. There are also lots of buff events to celebrate the renovation, those we plan to launch next week as well.

Q: What is the new skills we will get and how do they work?

Heisenborg: The new skills are Bash, Rage Impact, and Dual Wield Mastery. Dual Wield Mastery won't work on items which are created as a pair, but if you equip an item in each hand you'll learn it. Rage Impact works similarly to stomp with some subtle differences. Bash compliments the slow attack speed of smash. You can use it to open enemies up to vulnerability, but in doing so you also risk opening yourself up to attacks. It takes some practice to master.

Q: How do we aquire these new skills? Is it a simple quest, or is it an endeavor similar to shock pages?

Heisenborg: It's not quite like collecting shock pages. Each skill has some prerequisites, and with the exception of Dual Wield Mastery, you'll also need to complete some special Shadow Mission questlines before you learn the skill.

Q: Can you share some infomation about the new enchants? thank you!

Heisenborg: There are 10 new enchants which can be earned, they're found in Uladh dungeons after the Combat Renovation update goes live. I can't share all of them, but here's one ;) Prefix Rank 4, Enchant enabled for One-Handed weapon, STR +15-20 when Critical Hit Rank 1 or above, Max Damage +18-23 when Assault Slash Rank 1 or above.

Heisenborg is kicked from the channel for flooding

Heisenborg: Uh. Okay great, well i tried to share the enchant and flooded the chat. Woopsies. Oh well, maybe we can come back to that one later...

Q: so what secrets are you not allowed to tell us?

Heisenborg: Oh wow, such a clever question. Here let me just tell you all my secrets. NO NICE TRY

Q: what kinds of answeres CAN you answer then?

Heisenborg: I answer questions, not answers.

Q: What dungeons and difficulty can the best enchants be found?

Heisenborg: The most difficult ones, to put it simply.
Heisenborg: I saw someone asked about weapons as well. Gilmore will sell most of the manuals you need. Then the materials for crafting those are found in Advanced Uladh Dungeosn and Hard to Elite Difficulty Shadow Missions.
Heisenborg: Well there are a lot of Elves questions in here I see. Heisenborg is a Giant. He does not answer questions about Elves. And he told the developers not to buff them at all, only buff the giants. So it is true that the Elves won't be receiving as much of a boost in this update, but Magic and Archery improvements are on the way. They'll still be able to benefit from some of the new skills and especially from revamps to the older skills. There are no elf-skill-specific revamps in this update, however. Final Hit is planned to be touched up for Humans. Attack Speed is increased, and Bonus Damage increases at each skill Rank.

Q: We Elves... are a proud race! And we shall continue to serve our wonderful leader Castanea, our Goddess Neamhain, and rid of all Giants!

Heisenborg: You are proud and small.

Q: What did you have for lunch?

Heisenborg: Sandwich. I eat them every day, it's cheap o.o

Q: You aren't winning any points here, Borg. You really aren't.

Heisenborg: That is not a question.

Q: off question but is there a chance we will get a name change service?

Heisenborg: Mabinogi already offers a name change service whenever you bypass our filters and troll other milletians. It is automatic. But no, no plans to implement this - sorry. Q.Q

Q: Are race change character cards ever going to be a thing?

Heisenborg: Not planned for the moment, sorry.

Q: So when does Mabinogi get it's own MOBA game? We already have an action game and now a TCG.

Heisenborg: Mabinogi is a highly loved franchise, especially in Korea, I assume you're talking about Vindictus and the CCG thats still in beta. No plans for a MOBa yet haha, but hey everybody's doing it right? Who knows.

Q: can elves have dark skin yet?? i mean we already broke the lore with black hair ;(

Heisenborg: Elves cannot tan, they can only get rosy pink sunburns. So it has been, and so it shall always be.

Q: When will giants be able to ride on Humans?

Heisenborg: When humans start taking growth hormones.
